AURA -the RestroBar at RODAS

The designer boutique Ecotel at Hiranandani Powai is one of the most flamboyant and niche entertaining restaurants of the city. It is a place where fashion and music melts with food, which is crafted by highly talented chefs. The designer, Ajit Shilpi has practically left no stone unturned to make the place the most vibrant place to be and be seen. Literally, the venue breathes music and senses fashion.

Right from the tastefully decorated music panels at the entrance paying tribute to Artists of the likes of Dire Straits, Beatles, Michael Jackson, Eagles, ABBA, Richard Marx and Boney M to various forms of sophisticated music listening devices and sound systems, everything about this place is thematically significant. Moreover, the choice of music by the DJs only adds up to the atmosphere. Synthesizing with the entire ambience are mannequins donning creations of performing fashion designers.

One aspect that differentiates this place from all other food & beverage outlets is the core philosophy of the management to make Aura a platform to showcase and appreciate the talent of various upcoming artists and designers. "If you've got the talent we've got the venue", is the mantra of the hotel's General Manager, Sunny Sriram.

No restaurant is successful if it does not serve a wide choice of food delicacies and beverages. From the continental hub of America to Dhaba of Punjab, from the pizzas of Italy to Salads of France there is everything here for the foodies. Executive Chef Dharmesh Katira has laid down a selective menu that takes care of everybody's taste buds. The F & B manager, Punish Sharma has ensured that there is some drink to go with every kind of food.

FAR EAST – CUISINES OF CHINESE AND THAILAND

Far East is the sublime offering to the discerning patrons who have taken to the great food and ambience at the boutique hotel. Offering far eastern cuisine, as the name suggests, the menu offers as a bouquet, the best of nations of the Orient curve. However, the cuisines of the Chinese mainland and of Thailand predominantly feature in the elaborate menu on offer.

The countries of the Far East are multi-faceted, exotic, intriguing and so are their manifold cuisines. The cuisines have been evolved by social customs, age-old traditions, and human ingenuity; and influenced by factors such as religion, geography and climate; and also by friendly visitors as well as by aggressive occupations. Each cuisine by its style, cooking method and ingredient is the record of the evolution of the country telling the story of its own land, history and people.

Dominating them all is the cuisine of China. The Chinese cuisine we relish today was born in far off times. The phrase "kopeng" then recorded, describes clearly the cut and cook method that is now called "stir fry". The cuisine was full of exotic food such as frogs, turtles, pheasants, peacocks, etc. But in recent times these exotic components are restricted to a few select restaurants. Chinese cuisines on offer shall be unique from provinces such as Szechwan, Cantonese and Mandarin.

By contrast, Japanese food is almost austere in its simplicity, a clean reflection of the Buddhist philosophy. Cooking methods are simple, seasonings uncomplicated and primary ingredients limited to what is absolutely fresh and locally available. But from this apparent lack of complexity has evolved a cuisine, which is unique in style and flavour.

The cuisines of Malaysia and Indonesia overlap in many areas. Both have developed through an integration of many other styles of cooking. The Indians influenced their curry making and the use of spices. The Malays and Indonesians have their own culinary style and there is also a very strong Chinese influence. In Indonesian cuisine, there is a lot of Dutch influence. And then there is also the exquisite Nonyan cuisine, a unique shoot of the cuisines of Malaysia and Singapore that developed because of Malay and Chinese inter marriages. Far East shall ambitiously attempt to explore this exemplary facet of Nonyan cuisine that shall remain as one of its specialties.

The dominant element in Thai cooking is the chili. The Thais have evolved a cuisine that demands a passionate response. The Thais have both stir-fries and curries, which are very hot in flavour, and on the other hand they have some soothing, extra mild almost bland dishes.

The Vietnamese often serve an abundance of freshly picked local greenery and herbs with the meal. The Vietnamese is yet another cuisine influenced by the Buddhist religion and is a simple and meager cuisine.

These are the cuisines that are portrayed in Far East that has a show kitchen where patrons can take delight in watching what is being actually prepared for them. The restaurant has a subtle décor and an underplayed elegance in style and ambience; whereas the colours of the cuisines add the element of style and substance to provide a really great dining experience.

The mystical experience of the Far East is brought to a beautiful location not so far away from you.
